Obituary For Grace S. Hunt
Grace S. (Vivian) Hunt, 97, wife of Herbert L. "Skip" Hunt, daughter of Edward G. and Minnie M. (Bartis) Vivian went to join them in God's loving hands on Thursday September 25, 2008. Born an only child in Dedham, MA Grace married Skip, the eldest of ten on June 14, 1932 and moved to Marshfield, MA where she mothered John E. Hunt and his wife Jean M. (Edson) Hunt of Abington, MA and Vivian A. Gosnell of Sandwich, MA. Grace was "Nana" to Jill M. Hunt Paige and John E. Hunt, II of Abington and friend to Gail S. Alcorn of Sandwich. A Rockland resident from 1947 to 1967 she was very active in Trinity Episcopal Church on the altar guild and never missed a Sunday. Among those things she most enjoyed were family, friends, sewing, animals, and visiting Mukadobit Harbor, Nova Scotia. Oh yes, and the Boston Red Sox. For over 15 years she was employed at Dyna-Craft in West Hanover as bookkeeper-secretary and served for five years in the North Marshfield Post Office. On returning to Marshfield, Grace was for a number of years, treasurer of the Steeple School at Trinity Episcopal Church in North Marshfield. She and skip then returned to Rockland in 1990 where Skip passed away in November of 1991. Her son John and his wife Jeanne lovingly opened their home in Abington to Grace for the last 17 years. Because Grace was "Legally Blind" for the last seventeen years, talking books supplied by the Perkins Braille and Talking book Library were a constant source of joy for a woman with a sharp mind who was interested in all around her. A visiting hour in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND will be held on Saturday October 4, 2008 at 9:30 AM followed immediately by a celebration of Grace's 97 year odyssey. Burial will follow in Plainville Cemetery on Rte. 139 in Marshfield. Donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute 44 Binney St. Boston, MA 02445 or the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library 175 N. Beacon St. Watertown, MA 02472.

We have such wonderful memories and stories to tell of Aunt Grace and Uncle Skip. We are grateful that we took the time last year to visit Jack, Jean, and Grace. We will always remember the time Grace and Skip visited us in northern Maine serving my rhubarb pie for dessert. Grace annonced in the morning that she was going to finish the pie for her breakfast before leaving for Nova Scotia.
