Obituary For Grace P. Carey
Grace P. (McDonnell) Carey, of Rockland, November 16, 2006, Age 93. Wife of the late John R. Carey. Mother of Robert S. Carey and his wife Mara T. Carey of Rockland. Grandmother of Erin D. Carey, John R. Carey, and Kimberly G Carey all of Rockland. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A funeral was held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. on Monday, November 20 at 8:15 AM. A Funeral Mass followed in the Holy Family Church at 9:00 AM. Calling hours will be on Sunday, November 19 from 4-7 PM. Donations may be made to the Rockland Education Foundation 288 Union St Rockland MA 02370. Grace died early Thursday Morning at the Radius Health Care Facility in Braintree after a period of failing health. Mrs. Carey was a life long Rockland resident raised and educated there graduating from Rockland High School in 1931. Mrs. Carey is a former employee of the old Grants Store in Rockland for several years, as well as the Rockland Webbing Company for many years. She was also a very fun loving woman, she enjoyed lunches with her beloved late sister Fran, trips to the South Shore Music Circus with her friends in her womans "club", but most of all spending time with her family. She was also an avid bowler, Red Sox Fan and Wheel of Fortune Fan. Grace used to love ballroom dancing with her Husband John Carey whom she married on Christmas Day 1940. The two made quite an elegant dancing pair, infact their friends used to always request the song "Spanish Eyes" for them because they danced so beautifully to it. Grace was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Burial followed the Funeral Mass at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Dear Mara, Bob, Erin, Kim,and John, All this week, I've continued to experience such wonderful memories of Grace. I'm sure it's because you provided her video legacy, her photo memory boards, her personal memorabilia, and her eulogy, all of which were truely Grace .
