Obituary For Ginger Wood

Ginger Emery Atwood Wood

August 2, 1961 – July 3, 2025

Ginger Emery Atwood Wood, 63, unexpectedly passed away on July 3, 2025. Born on August 2, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin W. Atwood Jr. and Dell Emery Atwood Hancock.

Ginger is survived by her two sons, Benjamin Wood and his wife Jacqueline of Rockland and Nicholas Wood of Hanson, Ex-husband, friend and father of her children, John M Wood of Bridgewater. She was a proud grandmother to her two grandchildren Emma and Nathan Wood. Ginger also leaves behind herlongtime partner, Robert Surette of Marshfield. She is also survived by her brother Dean Atwood and his wife Leslie of Rockland, ME; her sister Jan MacRoberts and fiancé Christopher Ozolins of Halifax. Ginger was predeceased by her sister, Tracy Sayce of Middleboro. Ginger is lovingly remembered by her nieces Gabrielle and Genevieve MacRoberts and nephews Benjamin H. Atwood, Andrew and Gregory Sayce, and her step sister Lane Donley and her husband Sam of Sherperdstown, WV.

Raised in Hanson, Ginger spent most of her adult life in Abington, where she dedicated herself to her home and family. A homemaker throughout much of her life, Ginger took the greatest pride in being a mother. Ginger also devoted several years to caregiving, a calling that brought her immense satisfaction.

Family was the center of Ginger’s life, and she cherished every moment spent with those she loved. She had a deep adoration for all animals, always showing kindness and compassion. She found great peace and joy in watching her hummingbirds and tending to her flowers and plants. Ginger loved to bake and enjoyed using recipes passed down through multiple generations , her Easter bunny cakes and plum pudding were always a hit. She was a deeply devoted mother, proud grandmother and wonderful sister and friend.

Later in life, Ginger endured health challenges which she carried with dignity and grace. Her smile remained, even in the hardest moments. Her presence, quiet strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Ginger's family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Homeon Monday July 14, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
