Obituary For Gerard A derKinderen

Gerard A. derKinderen,"Tony," 82, of Weymouth died January 13th after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, son of the late Hendrick M. and Barbara (Torano) Kinderen. Tony was raised and educated in Boston, graduating from Charlestown High School 1953.

Mr. derKinderen served our country in both The U.S. Army, and U.S. Navy during The Korean War. He worked for over 30 years as a Maintenance Supervisor for The United States Postal Service. Tony was a family man. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the beloved Husband of 50 years to the late Mary Ann "Molly" (Hutton) derKinderen. Father of Christina Sansossio and her husband Phil of Natick, Kevin derKinderen of Falls Church, VA, Fran derKinderen and Jeff Gavin of Weymouth, Barbara Houlihan of Whitman, Michael derKinderen and his wife Melissa of Plymouth, David derKinderen and his wife Kristen of Rockland and Margaret derKinderen of Weymouth. Grandfather of Kelly, Phil, Marilyn, Becka, Sean, Gabbi, Lainey, Katelyn, David, Conor and Michaela. Great Grandfather of Ricky, Grady, Will, Griffin, Milly, Gerard, Aubrey Maili, and Ophelia,

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Tony's life on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Donations in Mr. derKinderen's name may be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 N. Main St. suite 104, Natick MA 01760.
