Obituary For Gerald R. Coulstring
Gerald R. Coulstring, Sr. 75 of Halifax died on January 29, 2015 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was born in Weymouth, son of the late Alexander M. and Muriel I. (Nelson) Coulstring and was raised and educated in Rockland.
Gerry had been a longtime Hanson resident and had made his home in Carver for many years until moving to Halifax for the past 4 years. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Coulstring was an active member and Past Commander of the Hanson American Legion Post #226 and the Plymouth VFW Post #1822 he was also a Past District 10 Chaplain. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans as well as the First Cavalry Division Association and the Korean Veteran's Association.
He was a civic minded citizen and served on the Rockland Water Works and was an elected Water Commissioner and later a Superintendant of the Water Works. He was the proprietor and owner of G.R. Coulstring and Sons Plumbing Co. for many years.
Husband of the late Joan M. (Paulding) Coulstring, he is survived by his children, Gerald R. Coulstring, Jr. of Rockland, Mark A. Coulstring of Hudson, FL., Clifford J. Coulstring of Abington, Jeffrey P. Coulstring of Carver, Ann Marie Lavelle of Middleboro and Karen L. Swain of Carver. He was the brother of Edward Coulstring of NH, Donald Coulstring of Bridgewater, John Coulstring of E. Bridgewater and the late Virginia, Robert, Alec, Carl and Gilbert Coulstring. Also surviving are his friend and companion Bernie Lennox,19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Christopher Coulstring.
The family welcomes friends and family to celebrate his life on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, from 5:00-8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Holy Family Church, Rockland, at 9:00am. After cremation, burial will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. Donations in his memory may be made to the Rockland Veteran's Memorial, c/o Anton Materna, Town Hall 242 Union St. Rockland, MA 02370.

Mr Coulstring as how I remember you. Spending many summers camping with dad and mom Coulstring (Joanne and Gibby) are all that I have of favorite childhood memories surrounding the Coulstring "clan." Uncle Jerrry, I will miss you so very much. I spent so much time with you, aunt Joan and the kids. Camping at Bourne Scenic Park, upstate NewYork,and ending at uncle Sonny's farm. I guess all of us have our own memmories Uncle Jerry I will miss you so very much. I spent so much time with you,aunt Joan and the kids.Camping at Bourne Scenic park,upstate Newyork,and ending at uncle Sonny's farm. All the cookouts and steamers or as you called them clampers. Istill laugh when I think of you putting the hot clams in my punchbowl and broke it so you put it around you're neck and came in to tell me. I still have ethe rose you gave me from your rose bush when I graduated.It is still in my prayer book. You will be in my heart always.
