Obituary For Gerald L. Duncan

Gerald "Jerry" Duncan, 74 of Rockland, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2011 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health. He was born in Weymouth, son of the late Peter and Olga (Roman) Duncan and graduated from Quincy Trade School, class of 1956. He worked for 30 years in Local #424 Carpenters Union, retiring in 1995 to enjoy his golden years. Gerald is survived by his wife, Marjoryann (Dempsey) Duncan of Rockland. Beloved father of Gerald (Larry) Duncan and his wife Rachel of Brockton, Linda and her husband Warren Najarian, Jr. of Rockland, Natalie of Brockton, Sheila and her husband Richard Charbonneau of Raynham, MaryEllen and her husband Agostinho Rodrigues of East Taunton, and by his cherished grandchildren, James Thetonia, Kathryn Najarian, Jackie and Jillian Charbonneau, and Ana, Augie and Grace Rodrigues. In addition, he leaves his sisters, Shirley Graham of Harwich, Margaret Horgan of Abington, Suzanne Duncan of Quincy, Diane Duncan of Ohio, and his brother Daniel of Quincy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son David, his daughter Julie and by his brothers, Charles, David, and John. The Duncan family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Gerald's life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland on Friday, December 16th, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A funeral home service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 PM and will be followed by cremation.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brockton Area ARC, 1250 West Chestnut Street, Brockton MA 02391. Services will be followed by cremation.

    Jerry Duncan lit up our neighborhood. The Mayor of Belmont St. He was always quick with a smile, a joke, and a hug ." Mornin Glory." After a few minutes with Jerry, it was hard to do anything but laugh. He was such a nice man. I will miss that BIG BEAR of a man. I treasure his gift of friendship... Jerry's life on earth is over, oh but his New Life in Heaven has just begun. We LOVE you Jerry.... May Jesus welcome you HOME!!!     Even though I had only known Jerry for a short while I always noticed and appreciated his quick smile and easy sense of humor.     To Marjory,and family,Im really sorry to hear about Gerrys passing,he was definitely one of a kind of a guy i remember when you both would come to our house,and drink coffee and hang with my mom and dad,and then it was the 22 skidoo club and then it was fishing i had a lot of good times and great laughs with him growing up.may Gerry rest in peace

    Whether we were camping or apple picking or hanging out we always had a good time, with all our kids and as grand parents roaming around portland eating and shopping or riding the narrow gauge railway, we are missing a friend

    Marg and family I am so sorry to just now see that Gerry passed. I would have been at the wake and funeral. What a great loss. I can still hear him laughing in my head. I always looked at him as the gentle giant. So sorry for your loss. Marg please take care of yourself, hope to see you soon.
