Obituary For George "Tom" Horwath

Carver- "Tom" 68, formerly of Weymouth passed away Feb. 20, 2015 after a long illness.

Loving Father of Rachael Doyle, and her husband Sean, of Londonderry, NH, Dianne W. Sammon, and her husband John, of Rockland. Also survived by his Mother, Pauline Horwath of Petersburg, VA., Sister Sandra Barnett, and her husband Bill, of Chester VA., and nephew Chris Millitzer of Alexandria, VA. Also survived by his Grandchildren, Michaela, Aidan, and Liam Doyle, of Londonderry NH, and Alison Sammon of Rockland. Also survived by an Aunt Betty Bruce of Braintree, Uncle Carl Brown and his wife Paula of Canaan, Nh, great-neices and numerous cousins. Tom is also survived by his former Wife, Charleen McLoud, of Rockland. Tom was predeceased by his Father, George Horwath. and by his dog and partner, Prince, who gave him great joy and companionship for many years.

Born in Quincy, Mass. October 28, 1946, he grew up in Braintree, graduating from Braintree High School. Also attended classes at Wentworth Institute, and Northeastern University, specializing in Electrical Engineering and Management.

Tom spent many years working at the former Electro-Signal Lab, and Air Exchange Co. in Rockland, Mass., developing and manufacturing lifesaving equipment such as Smoke Detectors, and Radon Gas Detection Equipment.

Tom was most passionate about fishing and Lobstering in the waters in and around Quincy Harbor and beyond. Tom was able to fix/ build many things, from electronics, to vehicles, he was a master of many crafts. Tom made people laugh where ever he went, creating friendships and lasting memories. He was well known for his quirky sense of humor.

The family welcomes friends and family to celebrate his life on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, from 5-8 PM. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Services will be followed by cremation.
