Obituary For George T. Snow

George T. Snow, 83 of Abington died on January 16, 2012 at the South Shore Hospital. He was born in Abington, son of the late Roland and Emma (Turner) Snow and was raised and educated there. He was a lifelong resident of the town graduating from Abington High School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.

George retired from the Abington Public Schools where he served in the Maintenance Department for several years. He had formerly been employed at New England Art in Abington and for many years was a member of the Laborers Union working on construction projects.

Mr. Snow was an active member of the Abington American Legion and served on the Abington High School Reunion committee. He also was a member of the Pilgrim Sands Trail Riders Group.

He is survived by his son David B. Snow of Whitman, a grandson Kristopher Simmons of Alabama, his sister Marjorie Edson of Abington, his former wife Jeanne L. (Wassmouth) Snow and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Russell Snow and Barbara Evans. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate George's life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday January 20, 2012 in the funeral home with Rev. Kristy Coburn officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Abington. Donations in his memory may be made to the Abington American Legion Relief Fund, P.O. Box 2016 Abington, MA 02351

    Gordie and I will miss you, George. From the beginning you were always there when Pilgrim Sands needed help. I smile every time I think of the great times we had at our camp in Maine every 4th of July. Both of us will look you up when our time comes! Meanwhile have a drink ready!

    George was a wonderful friend and a happy influence on my life. He was generous with his wisdom, time, and possessions. He taught me how to ride and repair motorcycles with patience, skill and great humor. I enjoyed many fun adventures in the company of George and his son David....Happy Trails George!
