Obituary For George P. Bowman
George P.Bowman, 82 of Rockland died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was born in Wakefield, son of the late Frederick W. and Florence E. (McDonald) Bowman and was raised and educated in Stoneham. A Navy veteran of World War II, George had served aboard the U.S.S. Helena. He has made his home in Rockland since 1958. He retired several years ago after serving as a custodian for the Rockland School Dept. he had previously been employed as a supervisor for Otis Elevator Co. for 27 years. Mr. Bowman was a member of the Phoenix Lodge AF&AM in Hanover, the Josselyn Cummings Post #149 in Hanover and had formerly been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Rockland. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice C. (Wooldridge) Bowman and his children, Sandra L. Blood and her husband Ron of Hanson, Susan M. Reis and her husband Joe of Rockland and Jeffrey D. Bowman of Mesa, AZ. Also surviving are his brother, Joseph Bowman of Chelsea, 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. George was also the brother of the late Fred Bowman, Frank Bowman and Jimmy Bowman. The Bowman family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate George’s life on Thursday September 23, 2010 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCLAND from 5:00-8:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Spring Lake Cemetery in Rockland. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA

Most of all I will miss your stories, smile and jokes.
