George W. Lannin, 75, of Rockland, MA and Brownfield, ME died suddenly of natural causes in Rockland on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020. George was born on June 26, 1945 to Alice (Swiriduk) Lannin and William A. Lannin who both predeceased him. He is also predeceased by his late wife Susan Lannin of Brownfield ME. He is survived by his ex-wife Deborah L. Lannin-Miller of Pembroke and their three children, Marialaina Lannin of Pembroke, and Kelly Lannin of Pembroke, and by two grandchildren, Victoria Gregoire of New Bedford and Rylee Hammitt of Pembroke. He is also survived by his sisters and their husbands, Joanne Lannin and Rik O'Neal of Gorham, ME. and Madeline Lannin-Cotton and Joseph Cotton of Pembroke, as well as two nephews, Michael O'Neal of Portland ME and Daniel Cotton of Boston MA. George grew up in Rockland MA. where he attended Rockland's elementary schools, including Holy Family School. He was a communicant and altar boy at Holy Family Parish. George enjoyed playing hockey and skated at Golemme's throughout his youth. George graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1963. He attended Norwich University and joined the Marines in 1966, serving until 1972. He was honorably discharged as a Sgt. E-5 First Class. Throughout his life, George was always driving some kind of vehicle, starting back in high school when you would see him cruising the streets in his '57 black and white Chevy, or also when mowing the expressway grass for Gerry DelPrete in the summer months. His love of all things automotive was derived from growing up around "the garage" at his father and uncle's business, Lannin Bros. on Webster St. in Rockland. He also enjoyed snowmobiling and often took his children on snowmobiling trips to New Hampshire.

George had a long career at United Parcel Service (UPS) where he operated cab trucks & semi-tractor trailers. In March 1978 he moved to Halifax, MA. where he became an avid gardener, farmer and wood crafter. In the fall of 1990 he moved to Brownfield, ME where he continued to drive big rigs. He also continued his interest in landscaping and gardening. He enjoyed hunting and he was lucky to win a place in the moose hunting lottery while in Maine. Recently he moved back to Massachusetts to be closer to his family and to his dear friend and companion Ann Lincoln of Brockton, MA. Burial services will be private in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. A pro-burial Mass will be held at a future date. Arrangements are by Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home of Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in George's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Salvation Army.
