Obituary For George J. Latta

George J. Latta, 68 of Rockland formerly of Marshfield died on November 18, 2011 at the New England Sinai Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, son of the late David G. and Anne Marie (Ryan) Latta and grew up in the Charlestown neighborhood. George was a proud member of the Boston College High School class of 1961.

A longtime Marshfield resident he has made his home in Rockland for the past 11 years. He had been a longtime employee of Boston Edison and later served as a splicer for Elecom and most recently until his illness he was employed at Kirwan Surgical Products in Marshfield.

George was a member of Local 369 of the Electrical Workers Union and the Boston College High School Alumni Association.

He is survived by his fiancé, Jacqueline M. Morrison of Rockland, his children, Michael D. Latta and his wife Rachael, Michelle A. Latta, Rachel B. Latta and Melissa A. Latta all of Marshfield. He was the brother of Helen M. Coleman of Salem, Marjorie A. Dromgoole of Westford and David A. Latta of Stoneham. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. The Latta family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Tuesday November 22, 2011, in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND beginning at 4:00 PM. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM. After cremation, burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rockland.     Jackie: Bob and I are so sorry to hear of George's passing. We will remember him fondly, particularly at Wally and Tootie's parties. He always had a smile on his face and laughed at just about anything. He truly enjoyed life, and you certainly made it all the more special for him.
