Obituary For Gary A. Pratt

Gary Alan Pratt, age 63, of Rockland, passed away unexpectedly on February 9th.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife and best friend, Coleen (Noonan) Pratt, his daughter,

Megan McGovern and her husband, Stephen, of Rockland, his daughter, Erin Pratt and her

fiance, Jordan Bayuk, of Foxboro.

He was the cherished son of Norman and Gail Pratt of Belmont, NH, and loving brother to

Cheryl Pratt-Hudson, of Hillsboro, NH. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law,

and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved to be around.

He was quite the handyman and made his living as a carpenter. He was mentored by his father,

and worked side by side with him for many years at the beginning of his career.

Gary had many interests, but the greatest passion of his life was his family. He was the best “girl

dad” to Megan and Erin. He enjoyed traveling, reading, music, cooking, sports, and a great

game of cribbage or poker. Friday afternoon golf with his family was a favorite pastime. Even

though he’d occasionally have to dig one of his clubs out of a tree or shrub, he still loved his

time on the course with them. He had an incredible green thumb that he humbly showed off to

anyone who had the pleasure to see his gardens.

He was a man of few words because his energy spoke volumes.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 26th, between the hours of

4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gary’s name to The Clifford H Marshall

Foundation (tax ID: 043364592) ℅ 52 Accord Park Dr. Norwell MA 02061, or a charity of your choosing.

Gary was always so kind and welcoming when I first came into this family. He always made me laugh. He was a quiet man with a kind heart. I'll forever remember the memories of all the times we shared together. May you rest in the sweetest peace, Gary. Watch over us all. Coleen, Megan, and Erin you are all in my thoughts. I hope your beautiful memories help to ease your pain and bring you comfort.

I am so appreciative of the relationship between my father and Uncle Norman, which allowed me to spend so much time with Gary when we were younger. Not only are my Dad, my uncle and my cousin the 3 biggest influences in my life, but Gary was just like an older brother. I idolized him and he always took me along even though I was much younger and probably a pain in the arse. All of the times we spent camping, hiking, fishing and shooting are memories I will never forget. I hope he is with my Dad now and that they'll continue to wait for me until we are all together again.
