Obituary For Gabriel V. Bannon

Gabriel V. Bannon, 52 of Rockland, died on March 18, 2016 after a brief illness. He was the loving Husband of Maureen (Long) Bannon of Rockland. He was born in Galway, Ireland to Kathleen (Hynes) Bannon and the late Patrick Bannon, and was raised and educated in Clarenbridge Galway, Ireland.

Gabriel was a carpenter by trade, and was also a member of the Carpenters Union. Gabriel had been a member of the Rockland Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the Irish Cultural Center in Canton. Gabriel was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed being a member of Christopher's Football Club. In addition to following the Boston sports teams, he enjoyed his native Galway football, and hurling teams.

Gabriel was the Brother of Pat Bannon of Ireland, Margaret Ruane of Ireland, Martin Bannon of Hyde Park, Mike Bannon of Hyde Park, Frank Bannon of Ireland, Noel Bannon of Ireland, Kevin Bannon of Hyde Park, and the late Gerry Bannon. Gabriel is also survived by many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins, both in Boston, and in Ireland.

The Bannon family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Tuesday March 22, 2016, from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland MA 02370. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, in the Holy Family Church in Rockland at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
