Obituary For Frances R. Greenfield

Frances R. Greenfield 93, of Rockland died on September 10, 2015 at the Marina Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy, MA. Mrs. Greenfield was born in New York City daughter of the late Jacob, and Rose (Kletta) Rosenfeld and was raised and educated there, graduating from Wheelock Jr. High School in June 1936. Frances later moved to the Town of Mount Pleasant, New York, where she would become a very active citizen and employee of the town. Mrs. Greenfield worked for many years as the secretary to the town's police chief. She also worked in the Town's Clerk's office, its Justice Court and its Building Department. In 1992 Frances retired after 21 years of dedicated service to the town. Mrs. Greenfield left such a mark on Mount Pleasant that the town named a day after her, July 31, 1992 as "Frances Greenfield Day." In 1996, Mrs. Greenfield moved to Rockland, MA where she has since made her home. Frances enjoyed baking, gardening, and knitting. Frances was the wife of the late Arnold Greenfield. Mother of Edward Greenfield of Stoughton, and Sandra Sternstein of Abington, MA. Sister of Bernard Rosenfeld of NY, and the late Harry and Morris Rosenfeld. Grandmother of Barry Sternstein. Great Grandmother of Sophia Rose Sternstein. The family welcomes friends and family to celebrate Frances' life on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland at 11:00 AM.
