Frances M. (Grieco) Alfonso, 79 of Rockland died on November 1, 2012 at the Golden Living Center-Melrose after a period of failing health. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Gioacchino and Rose DiPinto) Grieco and was raised and educated in the Roxbury section of the city. Formerly of Dorchester, she had made her home in Rockland for nearly fifty years.

Frances had been employed at the F.L. & J.C. Codman Company in Rockland for many years. She later was employed at the Stop and Shop Market as a meat wrapper and at the time of her retirement she worked for the Wear Guard Co. In Norwell.

An active member and communicant of Holy Family Parish in Rockland, she shared her talents as a member of the church choir for many years. Mrs. Alfonso was a talented craftmaker, teaching ceramics class from her home for many years.

Wife of the late Anthony J. Alfonso, Jr. she was the mother of Pamela R. Deming of Rockland, Anthony J. Alfonso, Jr. of Methuen and the late Joseph G. Alfonso. She was the sister of Sabina Federico of Holbrook, Jack "Butch" Grieco of FL, Joseph Grieco of Taunton, Theresa Webster of Marshfield, Ralph Grieco of Brookline and the late Angela Dwyer. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 in Holy Family Church at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to the Activities Fund at the Golden Living Center, 40 Martin St. Melrose, MA.
