Obituary For Florence T Allen

Florence T. (Gannon) Allen, 78 a resident of Rockland for 54 years died on June 21, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Wife of the late Lonnie R. Allen Sr. Flo was raised in South Boston and was a graduate of Cardinal Cushing High School Class of 1962. She worked at The First National Bank of Boston after high school, marrying in 1966 and starting a family in 1967, moving to Rockland in 1969. Once her kids were old enough she worked for many years at B and 4th Variety in South Boston.

Flo lived an active life, she loved to travel with family, attend yoga classes, she loved reading, dining out, shopping, and bowling as a member of The Rusty Pennies of Timber Lanes Abington.

She was the most generous person, always rooting for and happy to hear of the accomplishments and successes of friends and family. Any school or sport event for her grandkids she was able to attend, she was there. She loved family Holiday tradition and celebrations, and at every Wedding could be found dancing the Chicken Dance. She was the strong silent type who worries about everyone, her strength never wavered throughout her losses in life and her battle with Cancer. She went by Flo, Florence, or Flossie but her favorite was being called Nana.

She is survived by her three children, Kerry A. Langlois and her husband Scott of New Hampshire, Lonnie R. Allen Jr. of West Virginia, and Lisa M. Schultz and her husband John of Plymouth. Cherished Nana of Lonnie III and Parker Allen of Georgia, Lily, Owen, Gavin and Vivian Schultz of Plymouth. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Gannon. Predeceased by her siblings, Kathleen Hansen, Thomas Gannon and Patricia Coffey. She is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews who she kept close to and loved like her own, and great nephew her special pal Dylan Bednarik. She was also a lifelong friend since Kindergarten of Carol Poole of New Hampshire. The Allen family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Flo's life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 4-7 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday June 28th, 2023 at 9:00AM in the Holy Family Church, Rockland. Burial will take place after the Mass at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester.
