Obituary For Florence N. Keane

Florence (Huntley) Keane, age 93, passed away on October 24, 2015. She was the devoted wife of the late Edward J. Keane for 60 love filled years. Born in Hanover, September 17, 1922, Florence was the daughter of the late Alice and Robert Huntley.

Survived by her daughter Barbara Laverty and her husband John of Plymouth and sons Dennis A. Keane and his wife Cindy of Lakeville, Robert E. Keane and his wife Carol of Holden Beach, NC, Richard E. Keane and his wife Phyllis of Westford and John Keane and his wife Janet of Halifax; also, predeceased by her sons Edward, Jr. and James. She is survived by sisters Carolyn Warren of Kentucky and Edith Ridley of Kingston and her brother Phillip Huntley of Hanson. Her brothers Robert and Parker predeceased her.

She was the devoted grandmother of Sheri MacLeod, Jessica Laverty, Andrew Laverty, Sara Laverty, Daniel Laverty, Shauna Keane, Dennis Keane Jr., James Keane, Geoffrey Keane, Jennifer Keane, Kyle Kuhns, Katie Keane and Mary Spriggs. Also, she was blessed with 5 great grandchildren, Keane Buchman, Braden Graham, Caleigh Graham, Emily Kuhns, Abigail Kuhns, Ethan Kuhns and Jayden Spriggs.

Florrie and Ed were married on September 2, 1945 as soon as he returned from the end of WWII in the Pacific. In no time flat they began the Keane clan. Family get-togethers and Sundays at the Keane house were a huge part of her life. Family came first to Grammy. She loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. The cookie tin was always full at Grammy's. Ginger snaps, Congo bars and hermits were Grammy's specialties. She loved being out of doors, loved gardening and loved her pups. She will be remembered for her gentle smile, her kind heart and her endless generosity.

Visiting hours in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, 403 Union St., Rockland , Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland.

    Im just seeing this today. I used to live next door to your parents. The both of them were so sweet and nice to me and my son. Florence would often share the vegetables from her garden with me. Im very sorry for your en loss. She was an amazing person. Marlene wilkinson

    I just heard of Mrs. Keane's passing ...Our hearts are heavy for all of the Keane family especially Barbie. Mrs. Keane was always so warm and caring. So many of our childhood memories included the Keane family...Diane and I will never forget her cheerful presence as a neighbor! ....We hope her memory lives on eternally...May you all find joy in the smile she brought to all of us.

    I remember summer begain when the van pulled up and the boys pilled out of the van.mrs.Keane never yelled for her kids she blew her whistle and they would come swimming running and rowing .you could here the whistle all all over the neighbor hood.Sorry for your loss.

    To my Uncle Dennis, my Aunt Cindy, my cousins JR, James, Shauna and the rest of the Keane family. I want to send my condolences to you all and know that you are all in my prayers. I didnt know Mrs Keane very well and I havent seen her in quite a long time but I remember how nice and genuine she was to me. I remember going over her house in the summer with my cousins and how gracious she was.

    She was all the last paragraph of her obituary says and more. Many hearts are sorrowful and many more will never forget her loving kindness. I won't. She always made me feel like family. Although I am far away she has always had a special place in my heart.
