Obituary For Evelyn L. Higgins

Evelyn L. (Ringler) Higgins died peacefully in her sleep on July 20, 2012 after a period of illness. Born in Boston on July 21, 1946 to Theodore and Helen Ringler, Evelyn was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain, and went on to live in Oxford, and Dorchester before settling in Rockland for the past 36 years.

A loving Mother, she will be missed by her three children and their families, Ken Higgins and his wife Diane, Denise O'Keefe and her husband Chris, all of Rockland and John Higgins of Southbridge. She was also the devoted "Nana" to Daniel and Emily Higgins, Paige and Colin O'Keefe and Zachary, Marina, and Julia Higgins. She is also survived by her former husband and dear friend Francis Higgins, his wife Helen and their son Alex of Framingham. She was the adored sister of Theodore Ringler, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Scituate, George and Carole Ringler of Norwood, Charles and Ilene Ringler of Phoenix, AZ and her dearly departed sister Helen Mitchell, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL. She will also be incredibly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Evelyn will be remembered by all family and friends for her unending loyalty, dependability and willingness to lend a hand with any task, whether babysitting, rides to practice, or saving seats for a concert or play! A great cook, she will always be famous for her "dough", home fries, potato salad and eggplant parm!

In her many years working for Stop & Shop, Angelo's Bakery and Bldg #19, she made many friends of co-workers and customers alike. She couldn't leave the house without someone recognizing her and saying hello!

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Evelyn's life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland on Monday, July 30, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in Dedham at the Brookdale Cemetery. Donations in Evelyn's name may be made to the MSPCA.

Evelyn always brought warmth and love to any place she was. Her love was passionate and fierce, no halfway for Evelyn in anything she did. What a great thing, to have the courage of your convictions regardless of consequence. As with anything in life, there were times that differences of opinion occur, and we did not always agree but that did not diminish her love and support for you as a family member. Her voice on the phone or warm greeting and sincere hello when we saw each other made me smile inside and out. I will miss her always.

The Lamberti Family is sorry for your Loss. I was very blessed to me Auntie and share some wonderful times with her over the past 3 years. The day Liz and I got married 8/20/2011. I can remember Auntie being so happy and excited she was talking to Liz about what she would wear black, white, red she was stressed out about the weather and if she would be to hot ï?Š One of the best memories I have of Auntie was as the wedding. When I told my family about her passing they all felt a loss as well and this was the only time they had the chance to meet her. She was someone who they all remembered from that day. I had the honor of dancing with her at the wedding and it is a moment I will not forget. She will be missed but never forgotten, anytime I think of that special day I will think of Auntie. Love and Miss You Joe

Dear Auntie, You will always be remembered for always being there at every Ringler event front and center with a smile on your face. You had this deep love for family and shared that love in so many different ways. I personally know that my Sister-in-law Patty will miss you from the deepest part of her soul, you were not only related to her, but you were and always will be her best friend, always in her corner. God Speed and please save a place for me with Jesus. He took you way too young, but I guess he needed another angel to watch over all of us! Love Lorraine

Dear Auntie, We were the two. The aunts. The two that were always there at every family function for as long as I've known you. Somehow there was camaraderie in that, and I will miss you very, very much. It was a privilege for me to witness over the last months your bravery and courage. I thought of you every day and looked forward to our visits. You are a free spirit now and I smile when I think of you like that. Love you. Kathy O'Donnell

Evelyn was a very dear person. She always shared her opinions openly and without reserve. At the same time she was incredibly sensitive to those who were hurting. Her last job at Building #19 gave her the greatest stories.... that she would share at the kitchen table. We will always remember her generous spirit and miss her deeply.
