Obituary For Evelyn Howard

Evelyn (Ellis) (Sweeney) Howard age 85, of Pembroke, passed away on August 19, 2017 at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham, MA after a long battle with cancer. Evelyn, lovingly called "Lynn", "Sis" and "Auntie" by friends and family, was born and raised in Hanover to Fanny (Cook) Ellis from Scotland and Fred Ellis from P.E.I., Canada.

Married to the late Jack Howard for 44 years. Survived by sons, E. Joseph Sweeney of Halifax and Thomas E. Sweeney of Brockton, daughters Valerie (Sweeney) Nguyen and her husband Chuot of Pembroke, Paula (Marsh) Wassiege and husband Tim of Maryland, Lisa (Marsh) Henderson of Wareham, stepchildren Maryann (Howard) Gleason and husband William of California, John Howard of Hanover, sister Darlene (Ellis) Yeo and husband Randy, brother Jackie Ellis and stepmother Della Ellis all of P.E.I, Canada; eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many friends and family. Pre-deceased by daughter Marcia Lynn Sweeney, her brothers Richard and Jimmy Ellis, sisters Diane Marsh and Glenn (Ellis) Berry, and grandson Kevin Sweeney.

Lynn graduated from Sylvester High School in 1949 and coordinated reunions for 60 years. Evelyn was affiliated with the First Congregation Church of Hanover for 80 years. She was a member of the North River Chapter of Eastern Star, delivered Meals on Wheels, worked for Markings in Hingham and retired from Monponsett United States Post Office.

She enjoyed spending time socializing with friends, playing bingo, cards, domino's, and trips to Foxwoods. Thank you to dear friends and family for all your love and support these past few weeks and throughout the years.

The family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Evelyn's life in The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland MA 02370. Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynn's memory can be made to the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham or First Congregational Church of Hanover.

    Your mom was such a good friend to my mom, Carol, she will be greatly missed. I have fond memories of Lynn growing up.
