Obituary For Eugene V. Marshall
Eugene Vincent Marshall
03/08/1939 – 06/11/2026
Eugene “Gene” Vincent Marshall passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 87. Gene was a soft spoken kind man. He was happiest at the beach (as a lifeguard in his earlier days and a watchful father/grandfather in later years), eating a home cooked meal prepared by his loving wife, getting the party started, going for long runs, being a good dad (and bragging about his daughters), drawing silly cartoon characters, telling funny stories from his past, enjoying an old fashioned (likely more than one!), keeping in touch with family and friends, and saying his morning prayers.
Born on March 8, 1939, Gene was raised in Long Beach, NY. He attended St. John’s University on a track scholarship, and he had a successful career as a salesman in the Garment District in New York City. He met and soon after married the love of his life, Patricia. They went on to raise a beautiful family on Long Island, retired to Mount Pleasant, SC where he volunteered at the Veterans Administration hospital and six years ago after the passing of his beloved wife he moved to the South Shore in Massachusetts to be closer to his children.
Gene was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Gene is survived by his daughters Kimberly Warner (Marshall) and her husband Eric, Jennifer Dietz (Marshall) and her husband Denis, and Elizabeth Marshall. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Jack Warner, Katelyn Warner, Kelsey Warner, Kellen Dietz and Callie Dietz, and his sister Patricia Ryan (Marshall).
Gene is predeceased by his parents Francis and Loretta (Ebbitt) Marshall and his brother Frank. He is also predeceased by his daughter Mary Katherine and his wife of 52 years, Patricia J. Marshall (Martin).
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10am at St. Clare Parish, 1244 Liberty St, Braintree MA 02184. The inurnment will occur at a later date on Long Island in Westbury, NY with a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate.

Gene Marshall, I am proud to say, was my brother-in-law but he was more like a brother, because of the closeness that we shared. My husband and I treasured Gene, as a person, a relative and as a friend. . He was a caring and loving husband to his wife, Pat and, he was equally caring and loving to each of his 3 daughters, Kim, Jennifer & Elizabeth. He was a super husband, a super Dad (and Grandfather) and friend to me and to so many others. I was and am proud to have had Gene as a part of my life. Gene was the kind of guy who was filled with love & compassion & sincere interest in probably anyone he might meet & get to know, and he was all of that & a truly phenomenal person to family & friends. We all knew that if need be, Gene would be there for us in any way, for any reason & without question. He had a heart of gold, too. He'd give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, with no questions asked. Gene was a success in the business world as well as in his personal life. He knew how to make life work. He cared about others, it seemed, as much as or more than he cared about himself, at times. He was a man of humor & wit, intelligence, empathy, selflessness, dedication, honesty and, he loved life. Gene was one of the finest of men and, I truly cherish my memories of him, as well as the fact that I was related to such an honorable and fine man. I will miss you, Gene, as I already do. I am happy though that less than perfect days in life for you are gone now. You are in Heaven now, having answered God's call for you to come home. Now, Gene, you are safely home, reunited with your equally impressive wife Pat, who was taken from you years ago, and who has been waiting for you. Now, you are together again, for eternity. Love you Gene. Wonderful memories of you will now always be a part of me. Yes, I will miss you & think of you but, I'm glad you are at Peace. Sending you Hugs, Gene. Love you. Your sister-in-law, Joan
