Elmer “Bud� L. Long, Jr. , 88, of Gilsum, NH, formerly of Hanson, MA, died on Oct. 24, 2010. He was born in Boston; son of the late Catherine (Peachy) and Elmer L. Long Sr. Bud was a former member of the Hatherly Athletic Club in Rockland, MA. He was proud to serve our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #85 in Gilsum, NH. Following his military service, Bud worked 32 years as a pre-pressman for the Halliday Lithograph Co. in Hanover, MA. He was an avid golfer and member of the Pembroke (MA) Country Club. He loved to read. Bud Long is survived by Pauline (Mosher) Long, his wife of 65 years, and four sons and their wives: Robert L. Long Sr. of Sagamore, MA; David G. Long and his wife Leslie of Whitman, MA; Stephen J. Long and his wife Deborah of Plympton, MA and Daniel M. Long and his wife Rebecca of Storrs, CT. He is also survived by his brothers William Long of Bourne, MA and Thomas Long of Newmarket, NH; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
