Obituary For Ellen M. McParlin

Ellen M. (Galvin) McParlin, 73 of Hanson formerly of Rockland died on June15, 2017 at the South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her bedside. She was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Cohasset. Ellen had been a longtime Rockland resident and has made her home in Hanson for the past three years.

She was a longtime employee of the New England Telephone Company in Braintree and she retired in 1999 as an engineer after 32 years of service. She was a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Mrs. McParlin was very close to her mother Virginia and she travelled extensively with her and her best friend Alice Noonan of Rockland.

She is survived by her husband of 20 years James F. McParlin, Her sister Marion Galvin of Plymouth, her nieces Barbara Guilfoyle-Ryan and AnnMarie Donovan as well as several other nieces and nephews. Ellen was devoted to her cats Connor and Mikey as well as the late Spooky.

The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate her life on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church 403 Union St. Rockland. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. Donations in her memory may be made to the Driftway Animal Hospital, 53 New Driftway Scituate, MA 02066.
