I was shocked to hear about Ellen's passing. She will be greatly missed. I will always miss her smile, laugh, and conversations. She was the most kindest, sweetest person I have ever met. It is not going to feel the same going to Stop and Shop and not seeing her.

Oh Ellen I can't believe I won't see you at Stop & Shop any longer. I always went to your register and you always had a smile and asked how I was and how my family was. How's Lee and the kids was the first thing you would say .. We knew you for so long and you were just a genuinely nice and warmhearted person. I realized after I heard of your passing that we really don't meet too many people like you in this world and you will be missed more than you could ever have imagined. I only knew Ellen over the years as a customer at S&S where Ellen was my frequent cashier. I was always impressed by not only how efficient she was but also in how conscientious she was in "getting it right", both for the store & the customer.

My most amusing anecdote from my dealings w/ Ellen was when she sent me back to the bread aisle to get another pkg of Thomas' English muffins because the sale was "Buy 1, Get 2" when I had only brought 2 pkgs to the counter.

She knew her job well & did it w/ dispatch. From what's been written here, it seems she admirably carried that quality over to all aspects of her life.

I'm sorry this condolence is so late, as I only learned of Ellen's tragic passing when I returned to shopping today after the holidays. I wondered why she wasn't at her "post" during her usual working hours. ... She will be missed by the employees as well as regular customers at S&S Abington.

My sympathies to her family & colleagues; she was taken way too soon.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Ellen. I worked at Southwood and would drive Ellen home after her visit and my shift. Ellen was a sweet person and I loved talking with her and seeing the latest knitting creations she was working on. May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear about Ellen's' passing. We graduated together from RHS in 1972. I enjoyed seeing her at many of the political events around town and at Stop & Shop. She touched many people's heart. I was FB friends with her and it was clear from all her pictures how much she loved her family. My prayers to you all.

Sincere condolences to Ellen's family and friends. I just recently reconnected with Ellen as a FB friend. I enjoyed reading posts and updates of her adventures. I've not seen Ellen since high school days as I've lived away from Rockland since 1980 but I did hear from other classmates of her happy greeting and big smile for everyone she encountered. I am very sorry for such a tragic loss.

My brothere Peter and Ellen were together 13yrs. If this state recognised common law marriages they would definitly have qualified. I will remember her fondly and will miss her.
