Obituary For Elizabeth M. Shanahan

Elizabeth M. (O'Shea) Shanahan, 87 of Rockland died on January 30, 2015 at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham. She was born in Newfoundland, Canada, daughter of the late Patrick and Anne (Cleary) O'Shea. After coming to the United States she was raised and educated in South Boston. She has made her home in Rockland since 1959.

A kind Gentle and caring woman, she was devoted to her family, her children were glowing as they recalled her cooking and baking when they were growing up. She enjoyed bowling and participated in several leagues throughout the South Shore.

Wife of the late Gerald P. Shanahan who died in 1999, she was the mother of Gerald M. Shanahan and his wife Linda of Rockland. Catherine A. Gratta and her husband Richard of Sharon, Paul J. Shanahan and his wife Mary of Orleans, Mark A. Shanahan and his wife Marie of Plymouth, Philip E. Shanahan and his wife Una of Alaska and the late Patricia E. Spaulding. She was the sister of Patricia O'Shea of Quincy, Ronald O'Shea of Dedham and the late Alice "Dolly" O'Malley. Also surviving are her son in law Michael Spaulding, 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The Shanahan Family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland on Thursday February 5 2015, from 5:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday February 6, 2015 at 9:00 AM in Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.

    I am so sorry to hear about your mom what a wonderful lady she was, I cant help but smile when I think about her, I remember her timing you guys in the shower and if you went over your time she would shut the hot water off and she would laugh when she heard you yell.
