Obituary For Elizabeth I. O'Callaghan

Elizabeth I. (Howard) O'Callaghan, 89, of Rockland, died on April 16, 2016 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. She was born in Boston on June 4, 1926, to the late Walter and Geraldine (Bullis) Howard. Elizabeth was the loving wife to the late Arthur F. O'Callaghan, Sr.

She was raised and educated in Chelsea. A longtime resident of Abington, Elizabeth was formerly of Halifax but would later reside in Rockland since 2002. Elizabeth was employed at the Foxboro Company for 18 years before retiring in 1983. She would later work in the maintenance department at Whitman Medical.

Elizabeth was an active member of the Rockland Golden Agers, the Abington Mothers Club, UCC in Abington and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crocheting and volunteering her skills and time for the premature babies at Brockton Hospital and South Shore Hospital.

Elizabeth is survived by her children Winifred A. Hickey of Hawaii, Arthur F. O'Callaghan, Jr. of Plympton and Roger C. O'Callaghan of Maryland. She was the sister of Henry J. Howard of Missouri and the late Kenneth V. Howard. She was the Sister-In-Law to Helen and Rose Howard. Elizabeth leaves behind 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren.

The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate her life on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, from 6:00-8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:30 AM in the Funeral Home. After cremation, burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Rockland.. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army.

    Art,Terri, and family, So very sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. Although, we had only met once or twice, she was a sweet, kind woman. We were so lucky to have our Mothers for so very long, they will live in our hearts forever. Memories are our only true keepsake.
