Obituary For Elizabeth A. Marrocco

Elizabeth Ann Marrocco, 86, of Rockland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 12, 2022, in the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Facility. Elizabeth was born and raised in Quincy. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elsie (Apenes) Stenborg and the sister of the late Louise Hughes. Mrs. Marrocco was the loving wife of Alfred M. Marrocco of Rockland. She was the devoted mother of Jeanne Gillis of Plymouth, Laurie Barton of Hanover, Daniel Marrocco and his wife Joan of New Hampshire, Nancy Gervasi and her husband Daniel Riordan of Rockland and mother-in-law to the late Joseph Gillis and Walter Barton. She was the grandmother of Justine Gillis, Jenna Gillis, Elizabeth Mesheau, Maria Marrocco, Michael Gervasi, Gianna Gervasi, Josh Riordan and Nate Riordan. Great-Grandmother of Jack Mesheau, and Aunt to many nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Elizabeth graduated in 1954 from North Quincy High School, where she met the love of her life, Al. Elizabeth was extremely devoted to her family and spending time with them brought her great joy. When Elizabeth wasn’t spending time with her family, she could be found playing a game of solitaire or doing the daily crossword puzzle. Elizabeth also had a deep love of animals, and was often referred to as “The Snow White of Abington” by many in her Abington neighborhood. She enjoyed the sport of golf and competed in the Women’s League at Rockland Golf Course.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral Mass in her honor at The United Church of Christ, 10 Bedford St., Abington MA on September 27, 2022 at 11:00AM. A celebration of life at Rockland Golf Course will follow.     Dear Nancy and family, You are all in my thoughts and prayers. My favorite memory of your mom was her cooking. I always loved sleeping over on Saturday nights in high school.     Betty, my dear Betty how I loved taking care of you as much as you let me n thx you for being a friend to me n loving n caring about me. You made my mornings when you wouid let me take care of you. Your were so stubborn. We had many laughs n talks about so much n thx you for letting me into your world n yoir beautiful family as much as your kids were all my friends. Papa your wonderful Al you shared with so many of us. I will forever miss you n think of you since the last time I saw you Betty. Rip n may the angels 😇 surround you with much love n comfort to you n your beloved Al n daughters n son n all of your beautiful grandchildren that you adored.     Condolences to the Marrocco Family... To Betty : I will always cherish the days at RGC .. I played many rounds with you and enjoyed all the lessons you provided.. I truly looked up to you as you were one of the BEST for sure!! You were always a pleasure as a golf partner and also neighbor and friend!! You have a wonderful family and great husband!!
