Elizabeth A. Burns 72, of Middleboro, died on June 25, 2013 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Weymouth, daughter of the late John and Louise (Gallagher) Roche. Elizabeth was raised and educated in Weymouth graduating from Weymouth High School in 1958. She graduated from Massasoit Community College graduating in 1979 with an associate in nursing. Mrs. Burns worked as an R.N. for 13 years at Bridgewater State Hospital. She previously worked at St. Luke's Hospital as an R.N. in the emergency room. Mrs. Burns loved to spend time with her family, and was an avid Bruins fan. Mrs. Burns was the wife of the late Francis A. Burns. She is survived by her children, Christine L. Rockett of Middleboro, Todd F. Burns of Bridgewater, and the late Tracy E. Burns, and Jaqueline M. O'Brien, Sister of Richard Roche of Rehobeth,and the late Jane Hegarty, Louise McCormick, and Mary Dolan. Sister in law of Kathy and Kevin Croke. Grandmother of Laura O'Brien of Abington, Jennifer O'Brien of Hanover, Timothy O'Brien of Abington, Rachael Alchorn of Middleboro, Adam Metivier of CA, billy Metivier of CO and Christopher Rockett of WA. Great Grandmother of Brooklyn Payton, and Liam Alchorn. Also survived by Lifelong friend Barbara Tirrell, and many nieces and nephews. The Burns family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Elizabeth's life on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 2-4, and 7-9 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 9:00 AM in the Holy Family Church in Rockland. Burial will follow the services in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
