Obituary For Eleanor Tully

Eleanor (Powers) Tully, of South Weymouth and Mashpee, died January 12, 2017 of natural causes at the age of 101. Eleanor was born on October 29, 1915 to Richard and Mary (McCarthy) Powers and was raised in St. Williams Parish in Savin Hill, Dorchester. After graduating from high school and secretarial school, she worked many years as a secretary and retired from the Social Security office in Hanover. She and her late husband Robert M. Tully made their home in Rockland, MA. She was an active member at Holy Family Church. She enjoyed volunteering to help others, especially children. She and her husband later retired to Mashpee and South Weymouth.

She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew her. She is pre- deceased by her husband Robert Tully and her daughter Anne Tully. She was the sister of the late Monsignor Robert Powers, Richard and Paul Powers, and Marie Schoonmaker. Eleanor is survived by her sister Claire McCaul. Eleanor is survived by her children Robert, Kenneth and Mary as well as her daughter-in-laws, Gwen and Diane. She was the loving grandmother of Lauren Parker and her husband Heath of Hanover, Ryan Tully and his wife Kristy of Hanson, Cathlin Tully of Washington D.C. and Michael Tully of Norfolk. She was especially fond of visits from her great grandchildren Austin and Anna Parker and Andrew and Olivia Tully. She had a very special relationship with her loving care giver Kim Bondarick.

Family and friends are welcome at the Magoun Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union Street Rockland, MA on Monday, January 16, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Holy Family Church. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date.     Sully and Gwen. Sorry to learn of your loss of "Eleanor". I have many fun memories shared in the presence of of your parents. My thoughts are with you. No matter how long we have the gift of our parents losing them is painful.
