Elaine T (Shunstrom) Hawes age 87 of Rockland Mass passed away peacefully Saturday December 28th, 2024 after a long illness.

She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Robert A Hawes who passed away in 2013. Elaine is survived by her 4 children, daughter Wendy A Vaillencourt and her husband Albert of Whitman, her son Robert A Hawes Jr and his wife Nancy of Marshfield, son Richard Hawes and son Ronald Hawes and his wife Sandra of Rockland.

She was the loving grandmother of 7 grandsons and 10 great grandchildren and she leaves behind many nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Doris Shunstrom and 6 siblings, Humphrey, Richard, Charles (Merton), Albert, William (Billy) and her sister Constance Moore.

Elaine dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a nurse's aide at Quincy City Hospital for over 34 years. She was known for her kindness warmth and boundless energy.

She loved camping in Maine, playing cards, reading and she loved her cats which always brought her comfort and happiness throughout her life.

Her love of travel took her to many destinations around the world. Some of her many trips saw her traveling to Russia, Greece, Turkey, Italy, England, Alaska and Hawaii. Elaine will be greatly missed by many, including her dear niece Ann Gerow with whom she shared an unbreakable bond.

There will be no service but a celebration of life at a later date.
