Obituary For Edwin L. Boyd

Edwin L. Boyd, 84 of Rockland and Titusville, FL. died on February 3, 2013 at the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was born in Malden, son of the late Byron and Beatrice (Merry) Boyd and was raised and educated in Rockland. He served in the US Army during World War II.

Mr. Boyd had a long distinguished career as a truck driver working for Stop & Shop, Hallamore and later served as a driver and dispatcher for Boston Gear Co. He had resided in Titusville Florida for twenty one years before returning home to Rockland recently. He was a member of the Titusville American Legion, the Rockland Golf Course and had been a volunteer bus driver for the Rockland Defenders Drum and Bugle Corps. Edwin was an avid NASCAR fan.

Husband of the late Mary (Morse) Boyd and Elizabeth (Howard) Boyd, he is survived by his children, Linda J. Tedeschi and her husband Ken of Whitman, Bruce L. Boyd and his fiancé Elizabeth Eldridge of Hanson, Wayne M. Boyd and his wife Kathleen of Rockland, Stephen B. Boyd of Kingston, Norma J. Phipps and her husband Mark of Rockland and Robert J. Boyd and his wife Laura of Bridgewater. He was the stepfather of Derreck,David,Dale and Debbie Hermanson. Also surviving are his brother and sister in law Peter and Dorothy Keneally of FL, 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Thursday February 7, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. in Rockland. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday February 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Donations may be made in his memory to the Rockland Education Foundation, PO Box 764, Rockland, MA 02370.
