Edward Ernest Phillips Obituary
Edward Ernest Phillips, āEddieā or āEdā 80, of Hanson, May 31, 2024.
Ed was born in Weymouth MA, on February 17, 1944. He was the son of Hilda (Stenberg) Phillips, and Leo Phillips. He was one of four children, Linda Philbrook of Hanson, Laura Fulcher of Kentucky, and Donna Phillips of Brockton. He went to Weymouth High School and graduated in 1962.
Ed met his wife Julia (Horton) Phillips in High School and were married for 60 years and had four children Tracy Phillips of Hanson, Lisa (Phillips) Orrall and her husband William Orrall and their three children Bella, Brayden, and Brett of Hanson, Edward Phillips Jr. and his wife Kelly (Wilbur) Phillips and their two children Callie and Dylan of Abington, and Kimberly (Phillips) LāItalien and her four children Kylee, Derek, Josie, and CJ of Hanson.
After High School he worked in the Quincy Shipyard for 10 years, He was a member of the Blue Knights, Rockland Auxiliary Police, he worked for the Abington Post Office for 42 years.
Ed loved to go fishing, he loved riding his motorcycle, going camping with his family, and he was the biggest amusement park ride junky. He went on every and any ride his grandkids wanted to go on. He loved traveling every year to Peaks Island ME, and boating in the water. He enjoyed having fun with his grandkids, and his face would light up when he would go to each and every one of their sporting events.
In the past Ed was a coach in Hanson youth baseball, soccer, and basketball. He watched NFL and NASCAR races where Dale Earnhardt was his favorite.
He passed peacefully with his wife and daughters by his side. The wake will be held on June 10th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Magoun Biggins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on June 11th at 11:00am at the funeral home then burial to proceed in Fern Hill Cemetery High St, Hanson MA. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sarcoma Foundation (American Cancer Society).
