Obituary For Edward C Broadford

Edward Charles Broadford
October 13, 1947 – July 26, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Broadford, beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach, and cherished member of his community. Edward passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, in Whitman, MA.

Edward, fondly known as Ed, was born and raised in Quincy, MA. He excelled in sports during his youth and served as the quarterback for West Quincy High School's football team. After high school, Edward served his country with honor in the United States Navy.

During his children's adolescent years, Edward found immense joy in coaching many youth teams throughout his community, including Whitman Little League, CYO Basketball, Whitman Youth Basketball, and American Legion Baseball. His dedication to helping children excel in sports made him a beloved coach within his community.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Broadford, and two children, Kerry Cashman of Weymouth, and Ryan Broadford and his wife Alexandra of Whitman. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Kacie Murphy, Chloe Murphy, Alyvia Broadford, Ryan Broadford, Noah Broadford, and Evelyn Broadford, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Edward is also survived by his sisters, Louise Marini and Lori Jackman, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Edward's love for his community was evident through his active involvement in The Fraternal Order of Eagles, Rockland #841. He served many years as a Trustee for the club. He was known for his unwavering commitment to supporting those in need, often managing fundraisers and events to benefit the community. His generosity and dedication to helping others were cornerstones of his character.

Edward also served as commander at the American Legion in Whitman, demonstrating his commitment to community service and support for fellow veterans.

Edward's children and grandchildren cherished the time they spent with him, and he formed a unique bond with each of them. He is now reunited with his loving parents, Edward Douglas Broadford and Rose Arienti, and his son-in-law, Stephen Cashman.

His legacy of love, community service, and family devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

The Broadford family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate Edward's life in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 PM. A celebration of life will be held at the Rockland Eagles in the coming weeks. More information to follow.
