Obituary For Dorothy R. Erickson

Dorothy Ruth Erickson, 91, of Rockland passed peacefully on September 25, 2022. Born in Boston to the late Samuel H. Johns and Ruth Guilford. She was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School, Boston as a member of The Class of 1948, and worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Foxboro Company as an expeditor. Dottie enjoyed singing in the Church Choir at the Saint Augustine Saint Martin Episcopal Church in Boston, as well as spending time at York Beach in Maine. Dottie particularly loved the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball. She took her late husband (Cliffie) to his first Red Sox Game when they were 10, and Cliffie gave her a jade ring when they were 8 and also exchanged school photos at 7 years old in church. Dottie enjoyed going to the Rockland Senior Center dances and festivities. Mrs. Erickson was the wife of Clifford A. Erickson of Rockland. Mother of Craig A. Erickson and wife Yvonne of Rockland, and Mark C. Erickson and wife Linda of Newport, RI. Sister of the late Vera, Anthony, Samuel, Clifford, and Wilfred (Bill) Johns. Grandmother of Michael Oliveira and wife Tanya of Rockland, Nikki Maire Sherwood and husband Doug of Boston, Jonathan Erickson Hammel and wife Emma of Swansea, and Samantha Cornman of Newport, RI. Great-Grandmother of Michael Oliveira, Jr. and Rosalie Hammel. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Monday October 3, 2022, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, MA. A Funeral Mass service will be held at the conclusion of the visiting hours. Burial will be held following cremation in The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Donations in Mrs. Erickson's memory may be made to Rockland Cubs Scouts pack 12, Trinity Church 3 Goddard Ave. Rockland MA 02370
