Obituary For Dorothy M. Archibald

Dorothy M. (Freni) Archibald 83, of Rockland died on Thursday May 21, 2009 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. She was born in Cambridge, daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Williams) Freni and was raised and educated there. She had been a longtime resident of West Haven CT, where she had been employed at several area restaurants as a waitress. Dorothy was also active at that time on the Missions Committee of the First Congregational Church in W. Haven. In 1979 she moved to Rockland where she became active in the First Congregational Church and served on its Mission committee as well as singing in the choir. In addition to her church she was active at the Rockland Senior Center and exercised frequently at Paula’s Basic Fitness. Wife of the late William S. Archibald, she is survived by her children Dennis W. Archibald of Rockland, Joanne F. Archibald of Danbury, CT and Bruce E. Archibald of Holbrook. She was the grandmother of Daniel S. Spring and Heather J. Spring and the sister of the late Mabel Aceto and Mary Freni. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. A funeral will be will be held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND on Tuesday May 26, 2009 at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. The family will receive guests for one hour before the funeral. Donations in her memory may be made to the First Congregational Church, 12 Church St. Rockland, MA. 02370.

    Joanne, Dennis and Bruce, Joe and I were so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. She was a wonderful example of the Proverbs 31 woman, she will be missed, but it is such a blessing to know that she has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
