Dorothy L. (Thomas) Hartley, 91 of Rockland died on July 13, 2016 at her home. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on Dec. 23, 1924 to Richard Lee and Mary Louise (Leonard) Thomas.

She was the loving wife of the late Bruce C. Hartley for 58 years. She has lived in Rockland for 62 Years. She was the devoted Mother of Bruce Jr of Shutesbury, MA, Briane L. (Lynne) of Pittsburgh PA, Bradford T. of Rockland and Brenda L. Petronella of Paramus NJ. She was the adoring Grandmother of Aaron, Jason, Bradford Jr and Tiffany Hartley and Michael Petronella. Great Grandmother to Madaline, Caleb, Noah and Elizabeth. She survived her brothers, Harry, Jack, Harold and Robert of Columbus Ohio.

Her many community contributions included Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 36 of Rockland; past President of the Evening Division of Women's Club; past Chairman on the Board of the Rockland Visiting Nurses Association; Deaconess of the First Congregational Church of Rockland. While her children were in school she was Secretary of the Rockland School Building Committee. She was a significant contributor to the Rockland Fire and Police Departments, Rockland Memorial Library, Food Pantry and other charities in town.

The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrate her life on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street Rockland, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 716 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Spring Lake Cemetery.
