Donald Leslie Wetmore, the eldest child of Harriet and Leslie Wetmore, was born on October 21, 1937, in Wollaston, MA. He passed away at the age of 88 in Berkeley, CA, on September 10, 2026. A 1955 graduate of Hanover High School, he continued his education at Moorehead State College in Kentucky, where he met and married his first wife, Phyllis. Both taught school in Lansing, MI, later moving to teach in Dusseldorf. They joined the Peace Corps, and taught in Sierra Leone, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. Back in the States, he received his doctorate in International Education at Alabama State University. As headmaster of an international school in Sri Lanka, he met and married his second wife, Shani. Together they moved to the Navajo reservation where Don served as a principal and Shani as a teacher. After his brother and father died, Don moved back to Hanover to care for his mother. After her death, he moved to Berkeley to be with his sister, Linda Halpern. He is survived by his sister, Linda Wetmore Halpern, his son, Les, daughter-in-law, Rachel, granddaughter, Yaira, and many cousins. Services will be held at Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland, MA, on September 25 at 10:00 AM.
