Obituary For Deborah Lee Ribak

Deborah (Horkey) Ribak(59) of Quincy, Massachusetts, formally of Whitman & Easton, passed away peacefully on June 21, with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of the Albert D. Horkey and Janet C. Horkey of Whitman, Massachusetts.

Debbie was born January 9, 1966, grew up in Whitman, Massachusetts and graduated from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, where both of her parents were also teachers there. From there, Debbie went on to earn her Masters Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State University. She was a dedicated social worker for more than 25 years, and was an advocate for others to overcome challenges and to improve their well-being and daily lives.

Debbie’s joy was spending time with her adored son, Andrew, and going on many travel adventures together. Most recently, they travelled together on a return trip to Japan. She mentioned how much she enjoyed experiencing the food, sights and culture and how amazing it all was.

Walking along the beach and enjoying the sand and the surf was always special to Debbie. She was also a collector of sea glass from her trips, and had created many pieces of art with her found treasures.

Debbie had a fine appreciation of beauty and nature, and always took a moment to enjoy the view of the sun setting from her office window at Carney Hospital.

Deb was also loved her rescue dog, Luna, and would take her for walks along the shore. She was definitely an animal lover and would support many causes of those pets in need.

She is survived her beloved son, Andrew, her brother David Horkey of Whitman, her former husband, Jeff, and many extended family near and far.
