Obituary For Dean A. Finch
Dean A. Finch, of Hanover May 24, 2007 Age 77. Husband of Lillian E. (Gonis) Finch. Father of Rodney E. Finch and Robert F. Finch of East Bridgewater. Brother of Melvin Finch of Texas and the late Kathleen Calcagno. Also survived by 6 Grandchildren, and one Great- Grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union Street Rockland on Wednesday, May 30th at 11:30 AM. Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, May 29th from 6-9 PM. Donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312. Dean died in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston after a period of failing health. Dean was born, raised, and educated in Hanover. As a boy in Hanover Dean picked up many life long hobbies and passions including his love of horseback riding, fishing, animals, and the outdoors. Mr. Finch was a proud World War II Veteran, serving in the US Army. Mr. Finch worked at The F.L. and J.C. Codman Company in Rockland for several years as a maintenance supervisor, and was also a Bridgewater Auxilliary Police Officer for several years. Dean also worked at many other jobs throughout his career. He was described by his family as a "jack of all trades." Mr. Finch had many unique pets throughout his life that included monkeys, raccoons, skunks, and even a pet black panther that served as a mascot to his Army group in Europe during World War II. Dean's favorite pets however were his Springer Spaniels Fred, Sam and George. Burial will follow the Funeral Services at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
