Obituary For David S. Wilson
DAVID S. WILSON, 82 of Rockland, died peacefully on Dec. 31 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. David was born in Lynn, MA on Nov. 11, 1930. He was a graduate of Braintree High School Class of 1949. David was a brilliant design and manufacturing mechanical engineer. He used his skills throughout his life.
While serving in the Army stationed at White Sands, NM during the Korean War, he worked on missile guidance systems. For Polaroid, he developed and held patents for the first driver license photo id machines. David eventually retired from his last job at Symmons Industries in 1997. He spent his retirement travelling with a trailer around the country with his wife Mary. He loved the outdoors, canoeing, camping, his motorcycle, and his family. David was known to lend his knowledge and help to anyone who needed it. He earned the nickname "Brazing & Milling" by friends who knew him best and came to him with their 'projects'.
David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Mary (Lane) Wilson of Rockland,; his son Todd of Rockland, MA; his son Christopher and his wife Caroline and grandchildren Cameron and Liam of Cohasset, and his sister Jane Wilson of Braintree.
The Wilson Family sincerely thanks the wonderful family of caregivers at the Cardigan Nursing Home in Scituate, MA for their loving care to David over the past months.
The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 2-4 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland.
In the spring, David's ashes will be spread in the Damariscotta River near his summer home in Maine. It was a place David found much peace and happiness in his life. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in David's name to the Alzheimer's Association at: www.alz.org.

I will always remember David teaching my husband Walter and my boys how to mill and braise, cutting wood and creating Penobscott privies on our wilderness trips in northern Maine. And the great times we had at the cove on the 4th of Julys with the Wampies. When you paddle down that big river on the other side Dave, look for my Bear in his river hat and give him a hug for me.. chris

May you rest in peace now David. You were the life and soul of many a New Year's Eve party at my house. I can still see you sitting there with a glass of Scotch in your hand having a great time. You will be sorely missed on this street. You always had a good story to tell and always a big smile on your face. Cheers May Price
