Obituary For David Porter
David Porter, 93, of Pembroke passed away on February 2 after a brief illness. Dave lived in Pembroke for more than 60 years and took pride in the many homes he painted on the South Shore as a self-employed painter.
Dave was an avid reader, movie buff, Red Sox fan, craftsman and golfer. He was a long-time member of The Ridder Country Club and a member of the "Gang-Busters" golf league for almost 40 years. Dave graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander in the 8th Armored Division in Europe during WWII. He received a Bronze Star.
Dave was the son of the late John D. Porter and Grace E. (Marvell) Porter and was married to the late Margaret (Jones) Porter. He is survived by his close friends, Edward Kane of East Bridgewater and his family and Stephen Dodge of Pembroke and his family. Burial will be at the National Cemetery in Bourne. A service in Dave's memory will be held at a later date.
