Obituary For David P. Patry

Passed 01/18/2026

David P. Patry, lifelong resident of Rockland, devoted patriarch of his family and a respected member of the Rockland community, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on January 18, 2026.

While our hearts are broken, we find peace knowing he is at rest, back together with his lifelong wife and partner, Cathy. Their enduring bond served as the bedrock of the family and the namesake of his favorite passion: his fishing boat, the Cathy Ann. As captain for 50 years, Dave spent countless wonderful days on the water with great friends and family.

Dave was equally proud of his dedicated service as a Lieutenant and founding member of the Rockland Fire Department, Local 1602. Even in retirement, his connection to the department remained a central part of his life; he was a frequent and welcome visitor at the fire station, where he valued the camaraderie and continued to support his fellow firefighters.

A man of sharp wit and strong convictions, Dave was a familiar face at the local coffee shop. He truly loved to talk politics-whether you wanted to hear it or not-and his spirited stories became a staple of his daily routine. Dave and Cathy also enjoyed many happy winters in St. Croix, and during the summer months, he was happiest spending weekends by the pool surrounded by family.

Known affectionately as "Bampy" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Dave was a constant, loving presence in their lives. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Suzanne, and his grandson, Derek. He was the beloved father of Lynn and her husband, Russell. His legacy lives on through his five grandchildren-Matt, Jeff, Erin, Kyle, and Kaylee-and his two great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Serena, all of whom will deeply miss their Bampy.

Dave's steady hand, quiet strength, and unfiltered opinions will be missed by all who knew him.

The Patry family wishes to invite friends and loved ones to celebrate Dave's life@ Magoun-Biggins funeral home in Rockland, 135 Union St. on Wednesday January 28th 3-6 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church in Rockland on Thursday January 29th at 9 am.

Fair winds and following seas, Captain.
