Obituary For Daniel Punchard
Daniel M. Punchard, of Rockland, passed away at home on January 6, 2021 from complications of liver cancer at the age of 91. Daniel was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, graduated from Boston Trade High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Boston University. He was an Air Force Korean War veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Dan taught science at Broad Meadows Middle School in Quincy, MA for 25 years. He was head of the school's Science Department. Prior to this, he taught in various schools in the Boston school system and worked for the Commonwealth's Department of Mental Health for 14 years. Dan belonged to the National Teacher's Association and the Quincy Education Association. He was a proud member of the Skatetown USA of Whitman and Crystal Dance and Figure Rollerskating Club of Taunton for many years. Dan is survived by his lovely wife of nearly 59 years Ruth Punchard, a son David and daughter-in-law Marcia Punchard of Hull; a daughter Diane and son-in-law Joseph Morrissey of Rockland; stepson John Anderson and daughter-in-law Lyn of Rockland. He was preceded by his parents, William and Jane, sisters Ann McKendry and her husband Robert; Katherine Punchard; Jean Chandler and her husband Don and a brother William and his wife Helen Punchard. Daniel was a loving and doting Grandfather to his ten grandchildren Lisa, Kerry, Aimee, Kelly, Katie, Daniel, Emily, Erin, Meaghan and Sean. Along with his four Great grandchildren Scott, Conner, Molly, Justin and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangement are being made by Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home.

I remember Danny from when I worked at Boston State Hospital during the early 1960's. I recall him going off the road in his Volkswagen on Cape Cod into small trees. Despite the car's appearance the engine still started.
