Obituary For D. Jean MacFadgen
D. Jean MacFadgen, 87, died at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis on Thursday. Jean graduated from Bridgewater State University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was a school teacher for over 30 years. She taught at the University of CT Campus Elementary School, Marshfield Elementary School and then at the Cedar Elementary School in Hanover, MA for 17 years. She lived in Hanover for 50 years, before moving in 1995 to West Yarmouth where she resided for the past 17 years. Jean was involved in many activities in Hanover, such as the Teacher's Association, reading to blind students and the Hanover Garden Club. She also worked for the Republican Party. She is survived by her husband Ernest MacFadgen, her son Scott MacFadgen, and her son Christopher MacFadgen and his wife Donna and two grandchildren, Courtney and Christopher. She is survived by her nephew, Arthur MacFadgen, her sister, Barbara Adams and her nieces, Barbara Jean Poole, Laurie Stewart, Marsha Adams, Lisa Walsh, Penny Sullivan, Alison Adams and her daughter Samantha, and many great nieces and nephews. Donations may be made in her honor to the Juvenile Diabetes Association. At the request of the family, services will be private. The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. Rockland, is honored to assist the family with arrangements.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Jean. We have many fond memories of where our lives touched in the old days in Hanover.
