Obituary For Cindi Hultzen Rivers
Cindi Hultzen Rivers, 59, died on October 25, 2019 surrounded by her siblings and close friends after a long battle with addiction at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, MA. Cindi was born in Weymouth January 11, 1960. She is survived by her husband John Rivers of Rockland and her three sons; Steven, Daniel and William. Loving daughter of Dr. John and Marie Smith of Weymouth, sister to Robert Hultzen of Weymouth , Jeffrey Smith of Weymouth, Jason Smith of Quincy, Deborah Schopperle, Susan Smith, Karen DeCoste and Linda Drew of Marshfield. Cindi had a large extended family that included many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, from Pittsburg to Florida, DC to Weymouth and Rockland, she is lovingly remembered by many and sadly missed.
In her earlier years, Cindi worked in the restaurant industry and had an adventurous spirit; traveling brought her to living in New Orleans, LA and St. Augustine, FL. , before moving back to Massachusetts for the last time to settle in the Weymouth/Rockland area in the early 1990's. Cindi had endless optimism even in the face of adversity. Cindi's adult life was largely marked by addiction. She sought help and assistance over the years but the disease took its toll. She had her share of struggles and life at times was unkind to her. Addiction is merciless, does not discriminate rich ,poor, race or gender it strikes at the heart of families, forever harming those in its wake. Despite all of her strife, Cindi found true joy in the simple things in life, a good meal, going to the beach and connecting with friends and family. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm, loving spirit. Cindi always , through the hardest of times, found a reason to smile. Her suffering has ended and she is at peace.
Services for Cindi will be held privately.
