Obituary For Christine M. Serrecchia
Christine Marie Serrecchia was born in South Weymouth on June 7, 1972. Christine passed on November 2, 2021, in her home in Jamaica Plain at the age of 49, suddenly of natural causes.
Christine will be sadly missed by her mother, Rosemary Conlon, stepdad, Robert Bartlett her father, Armand Serrecchia and her stepmother, Jean Serrecchia. Christine was the oldest sibling to Brian Serrecchia and wife Kerrie Serrecchia, Kim Serrecchia and wife Sandy Vandeputte, and half-sisters Julia Serrecchia and Emma Serrecchia. She loved being an auntie to Andrew, Justin, Nathan and Taya. Christine had numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
When Christine had a passion about something, she would go full steam into the project. This started at a very young age. At the Maquan School, age 9 years old, Christine was challenged by her teacher to write a poem addressing pollution. Christine’s poem won first place and pictured in The Enterprise newspaper. A few years later, she continued her pursuit of writing. This time she wrote an essay addressing our future challenges of the ecology and pollution. She won this challenge and was invited into the Massachusetts State House to meet Governor Dukakis for her accomplishment.
Christine graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1990 and went on to study at Regis College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business. She became very successful in the business world and moved to California. Eventually, she ended up moving back to Massachusetts to be closer to family.
She loved her dogs! At one point, she had as many as 5 Labradors at one time and enjoyed every moment with them. She enjoyed traveling and loved discovering new things to try. Christine loved hunting for treasures at local thrift stores. She could find an authentic brand name handbag or expensive piece of artwork from a mile away and pay almost nothing for it.
Of late, she was a dedicated Democrat. She was active in politics in her local community, including campaigning and working polling stations. Whenever she had a strong passion for something she pursued it with vigor and would engage those around her. For example, when the pandemic began, the elderly and disabled community had no access to masks as they were afraid to go out without them. She called Marty Walsh’s office to explain their plight. She made the case to distribute masks to elderly buildings. Once a month Christine received the masks to distribute them to each apartment.
All those around her will miss her humor, ideas, courage, and strength. She went through a lot in her 49 years, but she always had the courage and strength to move forward and develop new challenges and passions. She was always evolving, surprising everyone that loved her.
A funeral will be held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at 8:00 AM. A funeral mass will be held in the Holy Family Church in Rockland at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland. Rose’s family invites friends and loved ones to join them at The Rockland Golf Course for a collation following the interment at the cemetery.
