Obituary For Christina M. Nyman

Christina M. (Donnelly) Nyman, 80 of Hanover died on October 14, 2013 in the South Shore Hospital after a period of failing health. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Blythe) Donnelly. She was raised and educated in Boston graduating from South Boston High School. Chris has made her home in Hanover for the past 44 years.

She was formerly an employee of the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston and also the Plymouth Home National Bank in Hanson. She recently retired after 32 years as a bus and van driver for children with special needs in the Town of Hanover.

An avid Red Sox fan, she loved Irish music and was the driving volunteer force for over 15 years as she organized the Annual Senior Citizen's Christmas Dinner. Mrs. Nyman annually prepared hundreds of pounds of corned beef at St. Patrick's Day for the Scholarship fund named after her late husband Howie and her son Bob.

Chris also volunteered with the Prom Angels group in Pembroke and could be found most anytime at Myette's Country Store in Hanover, trying her luck at Keno. Her family jokingly remarked that the Commonwealth would see a dramatic decrease in lottery revenue with her passing.

Wife of the late Howard A. Nyman, Chris was predeceased by her son the Honorable State Representative Robert J. Nyman of Hanover. She is survived by her daughters Katherine E. Jewers of Lancaster, Christine M. Anderson and her husband James of Revere, her sons Edward J. Grenham and Eric J. Nyman both of Hanover, her daughter in law Rhonda L. Nyman of Hanover, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary "Patsy" Maloney, Elizabeth "Betty" Donnelly and Charles "Sonny" Donnelly.

The Nyman family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Chris' life on Thursday October 17, 2013 from 4-7 PM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St. Rockland. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church in Hanover on Friday October 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM.

Christine was such a nice woman. We enjoyed having her as a neighbor and will miss her driving by and stopping to say hello like she would not to long ago. Over the years we created a nice little bond and it will stay with us forever. On the return trip from Myetts store our kids would bust thru the front door yelling that Mrs. Nyman was there and had bought them all a candy bar. She never failed to do it.. Our sincere sympathy to all of her family and thanks for sharing her with us. Tom & Marilyn Murphy

I am so sorry to hear of Chris's passing! I enjoyed seeing her most days at Myette's. She was especially fond of my daughter Gabrielle and would always inquire about her long after she no longer worked at the store. I'm sorry I will not be able to attend the wake as I am working tonight but know my heart is with you all.
