Obituary For Charles J. Small

Charles J. Small, 89 of Roslindale, MA and Goffstown, NH died May 28th, 2016 surrounded by his family at his daughter's home in NH. Born in Milton, MA, he was the son of Charles and Rose (Dolan) Small and was raised and educated there. He was a Purple Heart recipient for his service to his country in WWII serving in the U.S. Army.

Charlie was a resident of Roslindale for over 35 years. He move to NH where he resided for 15 years in Goffstown. He spent time visiting with his daughters in Hanover, MA and Windsor, VT.

Prior to enjoying his retirement, Charlie worked as an insurance agent and later as a toll collector and courier for the Mass Turnpike Authority. He was was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Sacred Heart Parish in Roslindale.

Husband of Kathleen C. (Cunningham) Small, he is survived by his children, Maryann Small and Susan O'Connor and her husband, John all of Hanover, MA, and Lorraine Gallagher and her husband Thomas of Goffstown, NH. He was the proud grandfather of Kaitlyn Gallagher, Thomas Gallagher, Devin O'Connor and Jodie O'Connor. He was predeceased by his siblings Rosemary Berg, Dorothy King, Thomas Small and Robert Small. Also surviving him are his sister-in-law, Anne McDermott and several nieces and nephews.

The family invites you to celebrate his life at a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 169 Cummins Highway in Roslindale, MA on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA. Calling hours at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union Street in Rockland are on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:00-8:00PM.
