Obituary For Charles Bauer
April 21, 1923 - Mar 13, 2024
Charles Bauer, of Halifax MA, formerly of Rockland, died Wednesday, March 13th, at Beth Israel Deaconess hospital. He would have been 101 in April. Charlie, as he was known to all, was born in 1923 in Hanover. Charlie was a World War II veteran, enlisting in the US Army Corp in 1943. He served our country as a staff sergeant where he operated as the ball turret gunner on B-24 planes in Burma, China, and India. He was awarded the Air Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Charlie completed his military service in 1945 and married his wife Mary (Stoddard) Bauer. Together, they had three children, Nancy, Linda, and Charles. Charlie worked for thirty years as a plant electrician at Goddard Memorial Hospital until he retired in 1998. In his retirement, Charlie was a ham radio enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Stoddard) Bauer, his daughter Linda (Bauer) Donnelly, his son Charles (Chuck) Bauer, and three grandchildren Herbert J. Lemon III, Jessica Bauer, and Chuckie Bauer. Charlie leaves behind his daughter Nancy (Bauer) Lemon and her husband Herbert J. Lemon, Jr, of Bridgewater, 8 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, March 22 from 9am-11am at the Magoun Biggins Funeral Home in Rockland. Burial will follow at Hanover Center Cemetery in Hanover.

Mr. Bauer. You were an inspiration to your family, friends and community. I enjoyed the short few visits we spent together at Butch and Nancy's house in Bridgewater. RIP Staff Sergeant Bauer.
