Obituary For Carl J. Casagrande

Carl J. Casagrande, 69, of Rockland died on October 5, 2016 at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center. He was born on May 11, 1947 in Boston, MA to Joseph and Ellen (Sawtelle) Casagrande. Carl was raised in Quincy and attended Sacred Heart Grammar and High School in Weymouth.

Carl earned his Bachelors degree from Northeastern University and his Masters degree from Anna Maria College. Carl was a proud member of the Metropolitan District Police and Retired from the Massachusetts State Police with a rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of the Retired Association of Metropolitan Police (RAMP), State Police Association of Massachusetts (SPAM) and the Massachusetts Police Association (MPA). Carl enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and spending summers camping with all of his friends at Maple Park in Wareham. Carl will be always remembered for his loving dedication to his family and never missing one of his children's sporting events. He loved nothing more than watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

Carl was the loving husband of Patricia (Reid) Casagrande for 46 years. He is survived by his children Robert Casagrande and his wife Carie of Hull, James Casagrande and his wife Jodi of Norwell, Steven Casagrande and his wife Emmy of Norwell and Michael Casagrande and his girlfriend Taryn O'Brien of Rockland. Carl will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Drew, Owen, Michelina, Robert Jr., Sophie, Lucy and Noelle.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate his life on Monday October 10, 2016 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union Street, Rockland, MA. Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Service at 11:30 AM on Tuesday October 11, 2016 at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home.     He was my Father, my Friend and my Hero. No matter what we needed he got
    even though he worked countless hours to do it. You don't realize until its to late how much more I could have thanked him for all he did for us. I think he always just knew becuase if you tried he never wanted to hear it, he would just smile give you a hug and a kiss and tell you he loved you.     Deep sympathies and prayers to the entire Casagrande family. I had the honor to work with Carl in the MA State Police Major Crime Unit. Carl always talked about his loving family. We would often share cooking recipes and family activities. May you rest in piece brother and God rest your soul.

    Also one more thing that I would like to share. My Uncle, Bill Brickley, was on the Metro Police for 35 Years, retiring in the early 1970's. Lt Cassagrande, remember that he and others will be there to greet you. Tell Uncle Bill I said Hello.
