Obituary For Betty A. Lamontagne Gallagher
Betty A. (Olsen) LaMontagne Gallagher, of Kingston died on June 1, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Rockland surrounded by her family and cared for by the Hospice of the South Shore. Daughter of the late Christian I. and Bessie L. (Earle) Olsen she was born in St. John New Brunswick, Canada and was raised and educated in Roxbury. A former Dorchester resident, Mrs. Gallagher had lived in Rockland for several years and has made her home in Kingston for the past 24 years. Betty retired in 1984 after a 30 year career as a teller and later as a clerk in the real estate division of the First National Bank in Boston. She was formerly a member of the Dudley St. Baptist Church in Boston and had attended the First Baptist Church in Rockland. She loved to knit, paint and cheer on the Red Sox but most important to her was her family. She was the wife of William T. Gallagher of Kingston and the late Roger H. LaMontagne. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne A. Gallagher and her husband William of Rockland. Her grandsons, John D. Gallagher and his wife Rima of VA and Daniel W. Gallagher and his wife Christine of Rockland as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Verna N. Hunnefeld of Reading, Muriel A. Overton of NM. Her step children, Richard E. Gallagher and his wife Donna of MD, Judith A. Griffin and her husband Joseph of Pembroke and Gerald F. Gallagher and his wife Maureen of Franklin. As well as 7 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was celebrated on Thursday June 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. ROCKLAND. Burial followed in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Calling hours were on Wednesday June 4, 2008 from 4-7 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Baystate Dr. Braintree, MA 02184.
